Walking in winter

11/06/2019

As the cold draws in around the country, we are looking forward to more wintry walks around Canterbury. Layers of snow on the cobbled streets of our city add some extra beauty to our regular tours. Winter also brings with it a whole host of tourists looking to wrap up warm and take to the streets when they are slightly quieter and the city has a crisp and calm feel about it.

Somewhat sadly, snow is a rare occurrence in the South East and what we can expect is for more windy and sometimes wet weather. This doesn't affect our tours much but you may want to consider the following if you're coming along on one of our free walking tours in the winter.

Our top tips for winter tours:

Wear warm footwear

Our free walking tours are not tough going and we can accommodate almost all walking abilities but in the winter it can be a bit more slippery under foot. So we recommend not just sturdy footwear but shoes that will also keep your toes warm all the way around our hour and a half long tours.

Bring a brolly

Rain coats are a great idea but nothing beats and umbrella for keeping you completely dry if the rain decides to fall. Hide under a brolly and, whilst avoiding the rain, soak up all the history and culture that our city has to offer.

Give it a go

We never want to give up on a tour, no matter what the weather is doing. So even if it rains we will still walk! If in doubt you can contact us here but we will always brave it as we know that your trip to Canterbury may be brief and you want to seize your chance to take a Saturday stroll with us!

We look forward to seeing you on the Canterbury Trails Free Walking Tour soon.
